Who is that officer???
This is the officer who slammed Essence to the floor, Elizar Mares...
Before you go on a tear about how this isn't racism because he is a Brown person, consider that anti - Blacknes among NON BLACK People of Color is a very real thing. ESPECIALLY, when they put that uniform on and toe that thin blue line they love so much. Humble ISD the ball is in your court, produce probable cause for the level of force used, share the police report and be transparent. FOR THE ORIGINAL STORY AND TO VIEW THE FOOTAGE CLICK HERE... Updates will be forthcoming, in the mean time catch Ms. Dawson and I on the Isiah Factor tonight on Fox 26 Houston at 10:30pm CST.

Today I was contacted by a very upset mother who told me about her daughter being assualted by an Humble ISD police officer during an altercation. As I listened intently to Ebony Dawson, the mother of Essence Prince, I could hear the pain and hurt in her voice. She went on to send me a statement, pictures, and video of the "the arresting officer," throwing "her to the ground in order to break up the fight. Using excessive force, "he then proceeded to put his knee and elbow in her neck and head. From there she was handcuffed and thrown in to glass and drug her." To make things worse "she is being charged with two felony assaults to a public servant. One for spitting -which was coughing a reaction of being chocked. The other for hitting the officer." Before I continue, Please review the statement provided by Ms Dawson about the brutal attack on her daughter Essence prince and video/images below:
My name is Ebony Dawson. I am in need of assistance with a police brutality case. My 16 year old daughter Essence Prince was assaulted and was refused medical attention for approx. 5 hours.
Essence and another 10th grade student was involved in a fight yesterday March 9th. This fight took place approx. at 12-12:30 pm. I received a phone call from her principle 2:46. This call was missed due to a meeting that I was in. I was not left a message. I returned the call at 2:59. I was told that Essence was being suspended for a fight with another student. At 3:06 pm I received another call from Mr. Castillio, the principle I had just spoken with. He informed me that Essence was arrested. He stated if she gets a felony she will not be allowed back on campus. I was never told that she had been beaten by an officer or possibly needs medical attention. I was told that she was already downtown at Juvenile.
I immediately left work. I started to call around to see where my daughter was. I found that she was actually still at Humble ISD police dept. I asked to speak to an officer. I spoke to an officer that informed me she was booking my daughter. She informed me I was unable to see her, I could pick her up from downtown once she was transported. I was told that she had already questioned my daughter. She stated that Essence said that she spit on the office because she couldn’t get her hands back in the cuffs. The officer stated Essence is fine and I couldn’t see her. I still proceeded to the station. I asked the officer what about the male officer chocking her. She said well he needed to do that to detain her. She was resisting arrest so he had to place his elbow in her neck. The officer also stated, well he really isn’t that big of a guy. I explained it doesn’t matter. She cannot match his weight. The officer told me when kids are fighting they can match the officers force and weight.
The videos show she can’t move there is no resistance in the video where he is on her neck. This child feared for her life. She couldn’t breathe. She has a trained office taking sleep tactics to bring her down..."
Trigger Warning: Graphic Video
The statement continues...
"Essence was detained and question with no consent. She asked for medical attention for several hours. Essence asked for Medical attention and help with her neck in the 12 pm hour. Essence cried for them to call me. They told her that I was at work and I said she was in trouble and I wasn’t leaving work. They lied to her to stress her out. I wasn’t contacted until after she had already been arrested. The lied, scared her and questioned her without my consent. After arriving at the police station I was told , I cannot see her but she is fine. I was told that they could allow Essence to call me but not to see her. I was in rage. I explained I was not leaving until I was confirmed my child was fine. I explained this is a child with Asthma and a heart murmur. I explained from this video she cannot be fine. I told them I was calling the news. They then agreed to call EMT. EMT notified me her heart was beating a little faster but seem to be fine from their knowledge. They do however have concern with her neck. She is complaining of soreness and seems to not be moving well.
At this time the same female officer came out, while EMT was there and admitted that Essence has been complaining of pain in her neck. She smiled at me. I told her you told me my child was fine, you never mentioned that she was complaining or in pain. She was involved in a school fight. As a result of the this incident the arresting officer, throw her to the ground in order to break up the fight. He then proceeded to put his knee and elbow in her neck and head. From there she was handcuffed and thrown in to glass and drug her. She is being charged with two felony 3 assaults to a public servant. One for spitting -which was coughing a reaction of being chocked. The other for hitting the officer. She blacked out she didn’t know who was on her. She just know she couldn’t breathe. They have yet to show me the video of her hitting him directly. They have denied me the right to the videos.
The school attendants threw at least two more students into the wall. Those students were begging for help for her. They were telling them she can’t breathe. They even suspended one saying that she interfered with a crime. Essence was taken down town after 8pm. The exact reason is to cover and bruises. They counting on her not seeing the judge. They want to make this look like a result of the school fight. This was extreme force to a 16 year female by a male office. I need help for my baby. She is an A/B student drug free. She is not an angel but a typical teenage girl. She has court at 7:30 Monday morning. I need help and justice for her."
With the information provided, I am searching for an attorney who will work pro bono on Essence's behalf. Essence is scheduled to be in court Monday (3/12/18) mornng at 7:30am and "she is being charged with two felony assaults to a public servant. One for spitting -which was coughing a reaction of being chocked. The other for hitting the officer." The next steps will be to demand the identity of the officer so that he can be terminated and charged with assualt and excessive use of force. Our children, Black children are expected to learn in an environment that is hostile to them in a time when fools want to arm teachers that probably have implicit bias against Black people. I am calling for an investigation by Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg and the Texas Rangers. I demand that all charges be dropped and that Essence be reinstated to school or at least allowed to transfer to a school with a safer environment.
Over the Past week I and Kandice Webber wrote pieces that address how White Progressives need to acknowledge their racism and that If we truly wanted REAL substantial change, I cant be to just go up against Donald Trump. My distrust of the multitudes of white people coming out to fight because Trump got elected has been confirmed. I warned folks about how White folks and their rented Negro friends would try to white wash movements by saying they see the error in their ways; the error of believing that we live in a "post racial society." The truth is that they came chanting Black Lives Matter all while trying to police our words for their comfort. They wanted "Peaceful" protest and tried to tell US how to do what we have done for years at a great level of success.
They died down and many successfully started to listen and became white accomplices, while a great deal of whites slowly slipped back into their pre Trump ways. As I write this, many are upset with me and Kandice for our pieces. They are BIG MAD because they love to cheer us when we call out racism with CONDITION...
The CONDITION being that as long as we dont call them on their racist bullshit, and are kept comfortable as self declared "white allies," everything will be just fine.
That is complete bullshit on an infinte scale, White people see things as finite and from there mediocre bubbles of privilege that STILL they refuse to acknowledge. What is even more insideous is that EVEN some who have acknowledged it want to hide behind the willful ignorance of unity and togetherness while glossing over issues of race and bigotry within the Democratic party. HOWEVER, it is false to say that white people who are "Liberal" or "Progressive" are not as bad as conservatives, the TRUTH is that they are WORSE. At least I can see a bigoted, inbred conservative red neck from a mile away, whites on the liberal side are always the ones to watch. They think that somehow they can tell a Black person what is or isnt racism, that the ills of this countries past are dead and gone when they are really alive and well.
When did it become okay to talk down on Black people DEFENDING THEMSELVES, I personally was attacked by several CISGENDER WHITE MEN (STRAIGHT & LGBT). I was told that me posting screenshot of mediocre white men spouting their rediculous caucacity at me in defense of Laura Moser wasnt fair.
I captured tons of screenshots of the caucasity and here are some samples:
Meanwhile, Laura Moser decided to post a tepid apology about her words in the arcticles that I addressed in my most recent piece. Someone sent me a screenshot of a post that was set to "friends ONLY" from her private Facebook page. Not one word of apology was issued or attempt to reach an olive branch out to see how, IF, we could address this. Instead we got a trash apology that was not posted on any PUBLIC profiles of hers and attacked by her supporters and maybe staff. Is Brandon Wilke staff? Anyway look at this:
Moser's words looked nothing like an apology to me. To be honest, saying "...I am sorry, full stop." sounds more and more like Moser is saying that she is sorry for how she made us feel and not about her actual words on video and in print. As of now, NO ONE from Mosers campaign has reached out to me or other folks in the community to addressed the issues raised by Kandice and I. The only response has been from her self described "close friend" Brandon Wilke who has taken to trolling me and Kandice, really anyone who speaks out against moser... He (and his white friends) came for me when I didn't send for him:
If you notice in my examples, it has been a majority of white men and white adjacent men who have have taken serious issue with me and Kandice. Calling out racism is not burning people to the ground and I have always presented the FACTS in my written works. Lets define miserable from a white male lens.... miserable as in you don't like that you are losing power and my Black ass ain't scared to speak out on your power hoarding in Houston? Miserable as in fighting for my community to have a fair chance and being painted as angry because I made you uncomfortable and collected your saltine ass tears? Anyway, for Brandon and anyone else to defend Moser is to ally with her... its about time that the HRC gays lose their grip on candidates, electeds and ultimately their power to hide behind money.
Brandon WIlke is a great example of the multitude of white people who have decalared themselves cured of racism and calling themselves allies. It was ALWAYS my understanding that marginalized groups get to say who their allies are. It is ALSO my understanding that there is no cure for racism and that it is a constant process... a journey of unlearning racism in its various forms, acknowledgement of white privilege and using that privilege to help those that are marginalized.
When did it become ok for white people, NON Black People of Color and rented Negroes to tell Black people what is or isnt racist?
"Why do we as Black people have to explain and defend ourselves why we think a person is racist? This is why I stay mostly stay away from the white LGBT community. Bunch of racist fucking hypocrites. ?" - Graham Maio
Anyway, when did doing what is right and good absolve you from being called out on your racism whether it was thirteen years ago or two hours ago? I am soooo curious as to how, but to be honest I have run out of the appropriate amount of fucks to give about it. My words and Kandice's words still stand and let this piece serve as a warning that you can no longer hide behind your whiteness and say what you want without record of it being kept. The gas lighting and anti Blackness is played out and many of us are immune to the bullshit. And as for the rented Negroes who have something to say in defense of your white masters and are mad because we didn't support you or challanged you, we see you too... Joshua Butler. Butler was mad at kandice weeks before the primary election for asking about the mortality rate of Black women during child birth and passed off as Kandice attaking him as opposed to helping to mainstream the issue. Rented Negroes always try and fail, especially when they attack BLACK WOMEN, and want to bring up the fact that Kandice has a white wife.
In life we all make choices to be on the right or wrong side of history, and it seems as though Laura Moser and her tribe of Cisgender, white male friends and their rented Negroes love being wrong. In any case, don't come for me or Kandice and anyone else who stands on the right side of history for the greater good... I will leave you with this message I gave on Samantha Bee...
It’s not your son that gets the cops called on him because some white lady is “new” to the neighborhood and didn’t realize he lives on “her” street. You don’t know what that life feels like and I hope you never do. I told you what that feels like. Other members in the Black community told you what that feels like. You disregarded it. It’s real easy to make a damn sign that says Trust Black Women. Look cute and take a pic at the march… How are you living?
That was enough for me. It was entirely too much but then I see another article that she calls “satire.” Literally mocking the spiritual practices in a Black church. She was invited into the spiritual space of a Black person and she mocked them. She wrote it up and shared it proudly. So now her white audience could read it and laugh, at our community. She made us the butt of white jokes so you could have some laughs while you sipped your tea. And we told you how it made us feel. She posted a half ass apology and you all quickly accept her apology! Well guess what? I wasn’t for you to accept. She didn’t take jabs at your spiritual practices. She didn’t tell your people to stop bitching about colonizers. YOU ARE THE COLONIZERS so you saw nothing wrong here. The fact that she directed that post to everyone and not specifically to Black people indicates that she hasn’t changed one bit. And neither have you. Do not over inflate your “progressiveness”. You do the same things. You give each other passes when you majorly fuck up. This was major just not to you. You gave her a pass. I actually saw one of your post saying “She can grow and learn…” Why do your people keep expecting my people to wait on you to grow to a place where you can be decent?! Why do you think we should accept your mediocre and treat it as if it’s our best? Do you think we don’t see how quickly you sell us out for one of your darlings? Have you lost your mind? I have questions…
So you did your thing. You went out to the polls and flexed your white privilege. And now you want Black people to be happy with your choices. How many times are you going to do this? How many times do you expect us to clean up your privileged mess? Lizzie Fletcher is not the answer. She doesn’t even bother to show up for Black women. She has plenty of support from the wealthy donors. Unfortunately, for her, they can donate the maximum but they only have one vote. She hasn’t made efforts to bother with the “others” at all. She’s weak on labor. She too gave some half-ass explanation why AFL-CIO spoke out against her and you forgave her, like it was your place to do so. Those are Brown women and men getting screwed so it really doesn’t affect you. Rght?
But you’re going to want us to help you get one of your little offensive darlings elected… What if we told you to stay the hell out of our neighborhoods? What if we told you, they don’t see us so how will they be any different than what’s already there? I told you, I have questions. See, it didn’t occur to you then but I hope it occurs to you know, you need the Black and Brown vote to win the general. Do you really think you have it? Really? Do you think you deserve it?
Take your Trust Black Women and DACA signs and rip them up. Save your superficial “Solidarity” crap. You can preach that to your own damn choirs. Your voices are the only ones you can hear. Once again, you have proven that you don’t give a damn about ours.
Kandice Webber is the Founder of Houston Rising and Organizer for Black Lives Matter Houston.
Someone grab Laura Moser's silver spoon! Thats what I keep thinking about when she comes to mind, grab that damn spoon of privilege and send her on her way back to Washington D.C.! I dont write this with spite, I write this as I hear echos of her voice in my head as I read through a couple of her very white articles that celebrate gentrification and take digs at the Black church goers. Moser reminds me of the character Rose Armitage from the movie "Get Out" preying on Black and Brown people for votes in a district that she has only recently returned to. Lets start with her first article:
Washington D.C. is a lot like New Orleans in so far that they are historically very Black cities that have and are experiencing a loss of identity and GENTRIFICATION. Let me tell you that reading this article was like being smothered in a bath of white privilege as the words leaped off of the screen. Moser scolding her fellow colonizers for their disdain at paying top dollar for homes that most likely belonged to displaced Black families, not to speak out against gentrification... but to spout trash about her affordable privilege.
"Oh, wow, your house cost five times what your childhood BFF paid for hers in exurban Dallas and it’s half the size? You pay more taxes than most residents of Mississippi earn in a year and you don’t get a vote in Congress? What’s that you say—child care is eye-poppingly expensive and the public schools hit-or-miss at best? Well, news flash: There’s a term for this tragic phenomenon. It’s called LIVING IN A CITY."
Must be nice to to be able to AFFORD property taxes, child care, and have enough money left over to avoid placing your kids in "hit or miss" public schools. Welcome back to Texas, Moser, to be more specific Houston, and you can take that damn silver spoon of yours and put it away! You moved back to Texas to run for Congress in a county AND a city where most people who will be voting for you are the very people who cant afford to pay for child care, property taxes, and lack acces in many cases to good schools. The elitism that Moser represents is something that Ive noticed throught the primary season as we approach the March 6th Election to decide many races.
"Do you know what you get for the premium you pay for living here in our nation’s capital? Access to an unparalleled array of (mostly free) cultural attractions, the company of interesting multilingual neighbors, walkable public transportation, the luxury of browsing the Bill of Rights during your lunch break, and excellent restaurants. That’s not good enough for you? Then move.
On my pathetic writer’s salary, I could live large in Paris, Texas, where my grandparents’ plantation-style house recently sold for $129,000. Oh, but wait—my income would be a fraction of what it is here and I’d have very few opportunities to increase it. (Plus I’d sooner have my teeth pulled out without anesthesia, but that’s a story for another day.) Living in a city, especially one with as many big-money job possibilities as this one, comes with a heavy surcharge—that’s just the way it goes."
Pathetic writer's salary? Do you know how many Black women get overlooked for mediocre white women who complain about their friends ability to overlook the costs of living? Speaking of big money job possibilites, I have yet to hear you talk about employment disparities in the Black community. I have yet to hear about how you would handle low income housing in the district you wish to be seated in. How much do you actually know about this district where a large chunk of the constituents are much like the people in this greasy article you wrote, and an even larger chunk looks like me? I mean this is serious. Moser is running in a district governed by a man who has made the expansion of public transit for Houston very hard. Much of what Moser mentions is tailor made for the folks who live in the Heights and other gentrified parts of Houston.
We live in a time where more Black and Brown people should be running for office, especially women. I do not believe Laura embodies the skills and knowledge needed to serve people who do not look like her. I mean "...And the other thing: DC just isn’t that pricey compared with other big cities like, say, New York or San Francisco. Tried to buy a condo in the “gritty” Mission lately? The median cost of a house in the District is $475,000; in Manhattan it’s $972,000, and in San Francisco it’s $1 million. And again, as in all things, you get what you pay for. There are still vast swaths of Washington where you can get a decent-size house for less than the cost of a one-bedroom in the West Village or Pacific Heights. Maybe you won’t live within walking distance of any embassies, but I assure you that’s a survivable fate." this is not the Laura Moser I met. How can you talk about living in a city and not mention the issues that Black and non Black POC face? This is a very white person in it for themselves. I didnt question why she moved to Houston to run, but I do now and I believe that you should too. Just look at this casual racism:
True, I’d rather not raise my children directly next door to a deaf-mute drug addict who openly smokes crack in the back yard and throws beer cans over our fence and regularly passes me notes reading “NEED 1$ [sic],” but we all make choices in life. At least I’m not hauling up five flights of stairs to a railroad walkup or trudging nine blocks to the nearest laundromat. (After spending my twenties in London and then New York, I’ve enjoyed those privileges plenty.) And at least, even on my family’s unspectacular household income, I can afford to have kids in the first place! We might not have much socked away for college, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. In the meantime, our lives are challenging and full and seldom boring, and I wouldn’t trade our shabby rowhouse on four major bus routes for a stately manor just outside of Tulsa—not for any price.
WHAT BLACK OR BROWN PERSON WANTS TO VOTE FOR ANOTHER MEDIOCRE WHITE PERSON??? I dont know one damn person who looks like me that will vote for someone who speaks like this.
Black folks would you vote for someone who disparages your church experience???
Going to "black churches and gospel concerts throughout the South (to hear stirring renditions of "This Little Light of Mine" and "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" and to reflect on the comparative dead-dullness of the thousands of bar mitzvahs I've dozed through)..." does not give you permission to talk down on Black folks like this. white lady what is your testimony? Do you know what it means to be Black and testify about the small wins, regardless of venue? Unlike you and your charming silver spoon life, when black folks testify it is because we work hard for all that we have. We have to work THREE TIMES as hard as you do Moser.
"...but yesterday's service was of an entirely different caliber. It was by far the most overwhelming revival experience I've ever witnessed, straight out of Levi-Strauss or something: just five minutes into the service and everyone was howling and shaking and praising the Lord at all volumes. Then all these women offered "testimonies" that were considerably juicier than any AA sob story I've ever heard: I used to hit my kids and yell at my husband until Jesus, you let me in; now I'm not angry about anything. Jesus cured my lower back pain and now I run marathons. My son was so shy he wouldn't speak until he learned how to pray."
Howling and shaking?! Are Black church goers fucking dogs? Was the friend who invited you to visit her church unkowingly the "Black friend" you invoked when called on your racism? From the beginning to the end, descriptions of "Salem witch trial moments", people appearing to be "possessed.....flailing", and being held down with "400 pounds of soul" reek of racism. Conscious or not, this is unacceptable, you needed an ambulance when one call from you can decide the fate of an unsuspecting Black person on a very real and mortal level. Dragging along to claim that "we never actually got to the second verse of any song" while never actually knowing the songs you speak of. How would you know, colonizer?
"I was proud to be her guest" Moser said, as she in the same breath, claimed to want to call an ambulance for members of her host's congregation. Proud of this mess you wrote Moser? I am serious, ARE YOU PROUD?! Was your former co-worker and "friend" a zoo exhibit? "What a magnificent voice Theo has, though. I was proud to be her guest. I kept watching her shaking, her lips vibrating in silent prayer, and I finally figured out what happens to all those maple-pecan danishes she inhales twice an hour at the caf (I'd been irritated that a 40-year-old could have three kids, five pastries a morning and a significantly better body than I did at age 16): she was just self-incinerating up there. It was amazing to watch." Sure the hell sounds like it to me! Regardless of your religious experience, there should be a level of respect and cultural competence that one must possess. It is very clear that Moser is the white person I always warn people about, the level of privilege here is astounding.
Dont vote for Laura Moser and remember to vote for people who give a damn about you and your needs, not just the needs of white colonizers.
